I'm that yugi-boomer that hates hand traps. Mostly for one big reason. Like every time I see a new meta deck it feels like there's like 9-12 are hand traps. Cards that only exist to make your opponent stop playing Yu-Gi-Oh for a turn. I'm talking max-c, I'm talking blossom, I'm talking some third or fourth card with a "&" in the name. I'm not salty the cards exists, I'm salty that a fourth of people's decks are devoted to these cards. It makes the game homogenous cause everyone is playing the same cards. The extra deck feels like that too now to an extent now. When I think Yu-Gi-Oh I think" oh you play this, so I play this, so I play this, so you play that. "Now I start you play Max C and oh I guess I'm done for the turn. Oh I summon a card to start so I can... no you don't. I'm not mad at them existing, so much that I feel like it just kinda stops the game dead in its tracks. Like there are entire other cards to snipe cards out of your opponents hands or to make hand traps not go off and I don't feel like that makes the game interesting or fun at least to me. I haven't really played since the beginning of the link era, but from what I've seen the game hasn't changed much

Double or Nothing! I have played it in my PK Kali Yuga deck, and there are two super scuffed ways to get it back in the deck. Originally it required you to go really far out of your way to put it back using Saryuja's link 4 effect. The second, more recent, way is to use Cherubini and one other monster to make Spright Spring to send plague spreader to put it back on top of your deck. Also, funny side note, the sprind thing is a funny tech option in regular PK too. If you have enough room in the extra deck, you can add Gigantic Spright so that when you're going 2nd you can make it, pop 1 with rusty because a dark Xyz was summoned to where it pointed, then attack with it, use it to make Downard, then make Zeus. You may ask why you'd do this, and the answer is that: for the most part you wouldn't, the upsides are cool, but the downsides are also pretty big. To be a bit more specific: Pros: 1. Gigantic is a 3200 beater, so it can get over some big monsters 2. It gives you something to do with Cherubini, where it can sometimes be left on the field as a 500 attack liability Cons: 1. Plague Spreader becomes another garnet in a deck pretty full of garnets. Frankly, the number of garnets in the first place is so bad that it's actually optimal to play PK with 45 cards instead of just 40 2. Adding Sprind and Gigantic into your extra deck takes up 2 slots in an already tight extra deck. One last thing, don't play Raider's Knight or Arc Rebellion in PK. They fucking suck ass. If you need to beat over something then just pay Accesscode or Borrelsword, or honestly even just use Underworld goddess to link it off.

except Scrap Golem is one of the BEST cards in Scraps, it specials Searcher to your opponents field which is a RAIGEKI unless theyre also on scraps

I've been playing a lot of Tear Horis on Master Duel and you are playing like, 5 or 6 cards you never want to see in your hand. Hapi and Trivikarma are glued to my hand.

Dear fucking God, I spent SIX YEARS telling people that the undine engine was terrible. Sure, it nets you a +2, but what the fuck are you doing with that +2? If undine was level 4, then it would be fantastic, but it being level 3 makes it USELESS! And then you just have a dead ass controller sitting in your hand doing fuck all for the rest of the game, because you are in DIRE STRAIGHTS if you're blowing your normal summon on that fucking thing. That engine was ALWAYS terrible, and I had people telling me I needed to be playing it all the way up to late 2018 just before gumblar got banned. God damn it was infuriating.

My niche pick would be Harpie's Pet Dragon. Sorry for the small essay but man I've been going up to bad for Harpies for a decade now so I just gotta get this out of me lol Way back in the day after Harpies got their first real wave of support around the Tachyon Galaxy booster release, you were forced to play Pet Dragon because it's the only card Channeler could summon to give you access to rank 7 monsters, and oftentimes you would need to play at least 2, maybe even 3 if you had a heavy rank 7 build. With Channeler being literally the ONLY way to interact with Pet Dragon without tribute summoning, which Harpies do not want to do (or I guess reanimating but your Reborn was better used on anything other than Pet Dragon), drawing even 1 could spell the end of the game because your deck wouldn't have the muscle to actually do anything with the advantage you muster up. You could pivot into a rank 4 strategy but the rank 7 pool was so strong for the time that it would be foolish to not play any, and so you would be playing on the backfoot for the remainder of the game, if not outright losing just due to no way to really generate momentum outside of maybe Hysteric Party but that would just get MST'd before you could even do anything. It's almost paradoxical because the less Pet Dragons you play, the worse the deck gets technically due to rank 7's being so good that you didn't want to skip them, but also playing more Pet Dragons also INCREASES your odds of drawing them, therefore ALSO MAKING THE DECK WORSE LMAO running 2 is supposedly the sweet spot but it was still just an absolute traffic jam of a deck. Harpie's Pet Dragon Fearsome Fire Blast should have been made 12 years ago lol

I think it's a pretty good idea it's something I would have enjoyed watching. Especially they have so many great stories.

Bit of a different spin but if you want really good end boards and quick OTK lines in Synchron you play arive in light with converging wills and stardust wyrm. Wyrm can occasionally give you access to speeder but converging wills just sits in your hand until you get arrive or bin it for jet. But in exchange you get shooting majestic which can OTK, has a permanent monster negate and a non-opt omni that banishes. An incredible pay off for one dead card and two mid ones

I cannot win with Mementolan Ghattic. If it's in your hand instead of your deck, your entire combo is probably gimped, especially going first, where you have limited ways to get it in the grave by a monster's effect. It's one of those cards you look at and think "well, run it at one. you literally never wanna see it until you mill it with the horse!" But then you do that... and discover that Master Duel's hand algorithm clearly has it dictated that Ghat will be in the opening hand of a memento player no less than 90% of the time.

Ultimate Slayer is such a great card for decks that don't need their extra deck. If you need something for links, Bucephalus is a great choice as long as you play garura.

So I thought odd eyes rebellion could attack 3 times. I didn't understand the difference between level and rank and one of my opponents didn't either so I summoned the card and beat him, tried that again on somebody who knew the game better and learned a lesson. Also once had too many polys cause I didn't realize fusion substitute counted towards the 3 card limit since it counted as poly.

I feel like a really interesting thread would be about bad/unplayable cards that are amazing in masochist runs. From what ive experience with my own masochist run and watching cimo's run, theres so many cards that see virtually no play in any format or Yu-Gi-Oh that are crazy in masochist decks

The arguments against the semi-limit list are only ever and have only ever been reasons for Konami to use it less often and for different reasons. Even if there's just 1-2 cards that make sense to be at 2, there's a reason for it to exist.
